Got an invite from friends to join them in Nidri mid July. Just looked at flights (LHR or LGW preferred); BA is £400 each, TUI would be half that but arrival times a bit late. What else ? How hard is getting from Corfu to Nidri in July ?

Not difficult. Get an early morning flight to Corfu and then use Sky Express to fly Corfu - Preveza.

Have a look at Easyjet flights from Gatwick to Preveza. Flights most days of the week that time of year and some are early morning departures. Sky Express do flights from Corfu to Preveza for about £80 one way but times do not always match up with arrival times from UK.

Sheesh, yet another tightwad thread. I suppose you need the cheapest of cheap flight to match with the f’kall investment made to date, yes? I trust you will be generosity personified on board and NOT droning about the 400quid “and then it was another £35 to choose a seat !” while the skipper/owner grits his teeth ...

Because of problems with flights this year we got the ferry that goes from Corfu to Lefkas ( goes every other day from Corfu harbour into Lefkas town harbour, doesn't run on a Sunday and does not run in the autumn/ winter) Very comfortable seats, took about 5-6 hours. Because of timings will be necessary to get a night in a Hotel in Corfu, but that can be very much part of the holiday and makes it much more relaxing although it is an early start so best to get a hotel near the port and you can just walk onto the ferry, (Corfu town is worth a night exploring). Obviously you can do the same on the return trip. Cost was around 20-25 euros each way if my memory is correct

Tightwad ? mebbe, nothing wrong with checking your options with time to spare. Given flights to Corfu are around 1/3 the cost of Preveza and I'm not strapped for time, JBs option sounds pretty good to me. I can bore the skipper with talk of nights out in Corfu Town and the delights of a ferry ride to Lefkas :)

How about extending the dates either side of the invite from your friends for a full 2 weeks from Sun 12 July - Sun 26 July... prices currently showing at £164pp rtn from LHR to PVK on British Airways flight searched on Skyscanner.net

You could source some nice land-based accommodation from AirBnB at reasonable cost around the island of Lefkada so as to make it a really nice break.
