Anyone know where it is typically mounted on a later Turbo 36?

I appreciate that it could be anywhere, but an awful lot of Turbo's seem to have the same Cetrek autohem unit so I'm assuming that it was an option from Fairline and therefore may be in a common location.

Mine had already been replaced with Raymarine but it looks like it is driving the original pump. Roger Upham from Chichester marina did the work might be worth giving him a call. He used to work for Peters back in the day and knows the boats well. I found him very helpful and knowledgeable.

On my Princess it was hidden in the drinks cabinet. !
It is alleged that the compass should be mounted midships for best accuracy and performance and away from any nearbye metal ?

Thanks both, it is supposed to be central and away from any metal, although there is a ton and a half of metal in the bilge that is difficult to get away from!

Thanks Dave, I've left a message, Roger is going to call me back if he knows :)

unless it's V.CLOSE to the ton of metal that your engine represents, it's OKish (that's what I gathered at least!)
What's unacceptable is to have metal/magnetic things moving near the compass or moved away from it.
for the record, on mobos it seems that around the aft part of the bow cabins is a nice spot to fit them (under the steps down to the cabins in f/b boats f.e.) and in theory close to the w/l and the COG.

cheers

Great, thanks Vas :)

I think it may be actually mounted under the control box on the helm, there's a certainly a White box thing under there that connects to the controller, but I'd assumed that it would be too close to interference from everything else there.
I'll wade through the manual, find where it connects and try to trace the cabling through.

from personal experience, looking through the manual wont help much...
Not sure CETREK had a white device, the fluxgate compasses I've seen where all pitch black :p
ALL devices connect in there. You got to remove the cover of the black box, check on the printed circuit where the compass plugs and trace that. Mind the back of the box cover has a diagram printed on an A4 sheet (at least mine had) that has all the connections. WASN'T totally correct though, so be warned, check the PCB.

cheers

PS. I'm on an extremely boring meeting, so plenty of time to waste replying ybw posts :D
