Flushing/ winterize a KAD 300

Hi all,
New to this forum. I have a Windy 37HT with 2 x KAD300. Just bought her. Now preparring myself for the winter lay up....
I have been told to disconnect the raw water supply hose from the impeller and fit another hose that can go into a bucket. This bucket I keep full of fresh water while flushing the engine. Keep the engine running for 5-10 minutes they say. Hereafter I stop the engine, empty the bucket and now fill the bucket with 10 liter of 50/50 fresh water and antifreeze coolant. Then re-start the engine and watch out when the water off the exhaust changes to the blue antifreeze color and stop the engine..... Done they say ....My concern is .... will the fresh water staying inside the hoses, heat exchanger, oil cooler etc after flushing not blend up with my antifreeze blend and cause the blend to be very 'weak'..... Should my blend actually be 30% water and 70% antifreeze in order to get the requested 50/50 in the end ?..... Never tried this before and maybe I see a problem that does not exist Thanks for any feed back.

I've always mixed it 50:50. When I do mine, I remove the raw water supply hose from the pump and fit another hose which allows me to pour water / antifreeze mix in via a watering can. Start the engine and once a couple of gallons of the mix have gone in, I shut the engine off, pour some neat antifreeze down the raw water supply hose, and refit to the pump and job done.

You need to remember to plug the raw water supply hose, as seawater will come in if it drops below the waterline.

The water within the system will all be replaced with the antifreeze mix, so you are worrying about a problem which, as you say, doesn't exist.

Hmm are you in northern Finland or somewhere super-cold?
Assuming you are taking the boat out of the water for winter, and are in balmy UK for winter, then ...
The Kads should have two thin hoses towards the bottom of the engines market red and blue with a closed nipple clamped into the hose. Take that nipple out to drain down the engine blocks.
Personally, flushing is for the arctic circle (this is the raw water side, right?)

KAD 300's so probably about 8 years old?

If you are rigging up to run through with fresh water and then finish with antifreeze, unless it has been recently done it would be worthwhile circulating Rydlyme to remove scale build up first, it takes about an hour to circulate with a 12volt pump with the impeller removed and then do the fresh water rinse with a hose and finish with antifreeze then ready for next season.

Hi,
I am in Denmark and store the boat on land. It can get rather cold up here so want to be preparred. I will flush the raw water side when on land and then just do the 50:50 antifreeze as Questor says and not worry about my question . Coolant has just been replaced and is good for -35 C. Thanks.
