I seem to remember Force 4 sold some flush fitting GRP seat drains that could be sealed into the boat seat, I can find no mention of them on their website. Does anyone have any idea where you could but such an item? My web scan seems to suggest the USA is the only option and it would probably be easier to make my own.

Couldn't you just use a countersunk skin fitting like this one ? Aquafax sell plastic versions starting from 1/2" diameter, see page 4 of this .pdf catalogue.

I was hoping for something a little more compact. This fitting is to drain the aft end of the cockpit seat on my Folksong where water tends to gather, 6-8mm ID hose would be quite sufficient. I can get at both top and underside of the seat floor, at the outlet only the outside, at least without removing a gas locker. I intend to seal the bottom outlet in place with a tube already attatched (pig to repair but life is imperfect) and then route the tube to a flush drain in the horizontal seat surface there I can attach the pipe using stainless O clips. Wanter to avoid any fittings with a nut on the rear side.

What did was to bond a short length of rigid plastic tube to the underside of the seat ( drilled through of course) and attach the drain hose to that.

I did the same at the outlet end (before fitting the gas locker !) but an ordinary skin fitting /caravan sink drain that's slightly proud will be no problem at the outlet.

I was lucky in finding some ABS tube because the polyester resin adheres to it well. PVC may be more difficult to bond ( well keyed and epoxy might do the trick)

Id recommend a larger diameter than you are contemplating. A small diameter drain is easily blocked by leaves and bird's feathers .

The difficulty will be matching diameters. Plastic tubing tends to come in only two sizes... too big and too small!

Yes, I will think about diameters, B & Q GRP tube has a 8mm ID but 12 mm would be Oh so much better! The search continues.!

Easy enough to make a couple of short lengths of GRP tube to suit the hose you have/can find.

Probably what i would have done if i had not got hold of the ABS pipe

Have found some ABS Pipe, 19.1 mm and 25 mm in diamer. Will use which ever one has the tightest fit to the hose before glue is applied.

A brass shot gun shell with the plastic sleeve used by people who reload their own shells works well. Just drill out the detonator (after it's been fired of course) to the size you think you need.

Fit the shell flush to the seat and use the plastic section to attached your hose. just add a dab of epoxy glue to seal it and hold it in place.

Works for me, but a shine up from time to time.

Good luck and fair winds. :)
