New type to me and I guess before long I need to do some servicing.

I am guessing put Allen key in small hole remove and undo big nut?

What do I find then? Some kind of plunger arrangement? How does it seal? gaskets? machine flats?

Any advice appreciated..

I have seen a few different types of seacock but that one is definitely new to me. The side entry is probably a good clue and I would expect to find a hollow conical plug with an opening to match the pipe entry, pretty much like a Blakes type but with a big nut and locking screw instead of the plate and bolts.

Let us know how it turns out when you do take it to pieces.

I see what you mean, but that wouldn't be flush-closing.

The only flush-closing seacocks I've seen (on a J-109) were a different design, which pulled up and then turned (or possibly vice-versa). But when closed, the outside was completely flush with the hull.

My guess for this one would be a plunger that moves down the body of the thing, on a threaded bar connected to the handle on top. When all the way down it's flush with the outside and also sealed, when all the way up it's above the side exit for the hose and out of the way. But that's only a guess.

If the boat is out of the water, unscrew the top and find out :)

That looks like the badger!

Interested to know where the screw-down thread is. In the design I guessed it would have been the whole rod, but that doesn't seem to be the case in the drawing. I wonder if it's the bottom of the handle screwing into the cap? So you'd unscrew a bit and then just pull.

(I think the thread between the rod and the plunger part is fixed and just for mounting.)

Hey guys thanks for that, they will be the ones...

All fits in with builders etc...

Will have to lift her out to service, that will be few days work once every one else is out sailing

Finally got round to servicing them. Anyone got any idea what size Allen key goes in the grub screws?

Seems its alittle whilst since they have been taken apart..
