I have a couple of Fluorescet lights (12V) that do not work. The strip light works, in another socket. There is another bit of electrics (ballast??) which I suppose may be the problem. How do I repair this or replace?

This is a bit like the Health service - How many people do you need to change a light bulb??

You can't get replacement ballast, only replacement strips. Typical, as 9 times out of 10 it's the ballast that fails first.

If buying from a caravan shop, note that the cheaper fittings are not suppressed and can interfere with equipment operating at radio frequencies such as echo sounders and AM/SSB radios.

You can by direct from the supplier "Lab Craft", who supply to caravan as well a boat manufacturers. They specialise in low voltage lighting and have a catalogue of many different designs. I've used them, and the're good.
You can order by credit card, phone or e-mail.

Stuart - I have spoken with Lab Craft - they don't sell the Balast by itself. I am having great difficulty finding any one who will.

My problem is that the Tubes are built into the structure of the head lining, and are made up of components rather than a complete fitting.

Perhaps the thing to do is to but a complete fitting and take it to bits!

Any ideas welcome!
