Hi all

Planning to go on a flotilla holiday in 6 weeks. Just me and the missus on a 32 footer. Not done Charter before so thought a flotilla would be a good idea.

Looking for suggestions on places to go - want decentish wind and a few hours or so sailing a day. North Ionian sounds good?

Also looking for recommendations for companies to book with?

Cheers

Chris

Northern (or Southern) Ionian would be ideal for your first flotilla. Gentle conditions and easy navigation.

Sailing Holidays run very good informal flotillas in the North and South. As an alternative to Sailing Holidays you could try Odysseus Yachting (book via www.nautilus-yachting.com ) who operate out of Preveza.

I have had good experiences with both companies.

Greece is great (we've had 2 very successful charters in the Sporades with Sapphire yachting), but I would also recommend Croatia. We've used Activity Yachting twice and they are excellent value for money and it's an interesting area to sail in.
Enjoy it wherever you go!

Went to Ionian With Flotilla Sailing Hols Twice last year cannot recommend highly enough
Very relaxed and helpful staff
Great boats and equipment
No connection just very happy customers

Back in 1997 before we bought a yacht we went on a one week flotilla in the North Ionian with Sailing Holidays, they were excellent probably the best company we have ever dealt with, try them and hopefully they are as good as ever, very attentive/understanding and helpful.
Enjoy it. RGH

Just back from the Ionian. Saw flotillas from Sailing hols, SailIonian, Sunsail, Odysseus and Neilson. The Neilson outfit looked very professional - we saw 2 boats being "tutored" in Med mooring - monitor / monitress on board (eye candy, both) letting the crews of 2 do all the approaches, drop the anchor etc, to build crews' skills and confidence. Was unimpressed by the Odysseus fleet moored in Gouvia.

Ionian Fab
nice winds in the afternoon. can be bit stormy after big hot spell but these are forecast and so you won't get caught out.
do a search on ionian flotillas on the forum and you will find lots of posts about this subject what where tips etc.
If you can push the mrs to bare boat there should be a few on late sail.com
I have used them and they are good no nonsense charters
for flots i used sunsail but sailing holidays have loyal following neilsen also have flots round ionian. i reckon they are all pretty much the same in terms of the actual holiday. the boats are all benjenbav types. some fleets older than others but that is pretty much evening out now so there all prettty comparable.
all you need is a few clothes lots of cash and cream.you'll have a ball.
