Just chilled out for the rest of the day. The next morning as each morning we had a briefing at 9.30 which explained where we were going, what time we had to be in (because space is limited) and what the weather was doing.
This was followed by a sail briefing and a briefing by the engineer (engine toilet water etc).
We thought before the trip that we had just scrapped under the bar with boating experience (very little sailing experience) to be allowed on this holiday, but were amazed that there were couples who had never been on a boat before and were being let loose in some very nice boats.
All in all we had a fantastic time visiting a different island or port each night got some good sailing in when the wind got up usually after 2.00pm.
This was in our first port.

Mid August wow it will be hot. Search the previous post had some good advice particularly sun protection. Someone advised long sleeves and trousers for every other day, i ignored that and was sorry. Also dont as i did cover yourself in factor 30 then take your shoes off /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Fine pictures David. That is an interesting boom shape on Aquarius Alfa - I've never seen that before. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Nice pics Davido.

I did the Ionian about four years ago with Sailing hols, and Croatia two years ago. And we are off to Croatia again with them on Saturday so your pics have definitely got me in the mood!

There is a bit more wind in Croatia than the Ionian, and the distances tend to be greater. The Kornatis, which we went to two years ago are beautiful, an archip[elago of 1100 islands ranging in size from tennis court size to about ten miles long, many uninhabited, and unspoilt.

This year we are going South from Kremik, which will be a bit less "wild", I can't wait!

Aquarius Alfa was in Fiskhardo 2 weeks ago, looks like it still is. The boom is amazing, but so is the boat. It is VERY large.
Also spotted the Dutch Cruiser with the lovely shaped cabin windows going towards Sivota, and that large MOBO also anchored in Sivota for a few hours.

Pleased you had a great time.

Nope. Saturday 16th we were at Sivota (Mainland) at the Neilson Retreat Resort entering the Regatta and the Saturday night party.........

We got to Fiskhardo on the following Wednesday, where we met Swagman on his lovely boat.

Nice pics!

They were fine about you cos you have a mobo - and if you can handle a mobo at close quarters you can handle a sailboat at close quarters, it's easier.

The sailing is all about saving money on diesel really, put a sail up and it might get you going forwards a bit. Altho slowly.

I see sunsail still stooge about at that cack remote restaurant in big vathi. Also fiskardo is riddled with stray cats so watch yourself. Greece is broken and cheap - but sunny. Everything physical like loos, restaurants, hotels, the lot - is a bit below par, or very below par. Heyho.

I recommend geting a load of drink supplies to avoid to daft london prices charged by sunsail at their vounaki centres. Also go in really late on last nite seeing as there is loads of time.

Also need 12v deck light on long wire and ciglighter cos the pontoons are very dark.

very nice pics indeed.... we chartered (1st time for us too) in the solent 1st week of June.... We only missed 2 days sailing thro inclement conditions. We visited the Needles upstairs on open top bus in full foullies and took ski lift down to Alum Bay in rain!... Have pics to prove but no idea how to show them on here!

Just got back from 2 weeks in the South Ionian as well, bloody marvellous.

Our log got up to 11.4kts (albeit that it was wonky - we reckon it was actually 8 - 8.5 in reality). Cracking sailing across the whole 2 weeks, although we stayed out the harbours that bit longer to make the most of it.

Still one of the nicest places to go sailing, IMHO. Booked again for next year. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
