The headlining in a 1980's Princess is falling down in the forward master. My guess is the foam has crumbled to dust.

Is it a full removal job or can you inject some glue to make a repair? Anyone done this?

Cheers

some people manage to support droopy head lining with battens and make a good neat job of it.

Otherwise it is a messy strip out and renew job.

Wear an appropriate ( organic vapours ) mask in addition to good ventilation when working with a solvent based adhesive in a confined space.

See Hawke House Ltd website for all materials and equipment Hawke House | Bespoke Marine Interiors

Remove the old lining material and reuse the original boards, I used this material https://www.cjmarine.co.uk/product/lining-vinyl/
No foam to crumble in years to come, it is quite heavy so a decent quality contact adhesive should be poured onto the board and a thin film spread using a spatula.

Very easy to get professional looking results but you will need two people for anything bigger than 3' wide!

1980s Princess!!!
My Princess saloon head lining went after 15 years.
I replaced it wit the original material - not cheap.
But you might be able to get it from Lang and Potter in Plymouth.
They were the original suppliers when our Princess was built.

I bought the material and got a local guy (here in Spain) to replace it.

Full removal job. Clear the cabin out of everything as the old foam dust goes everywhere. If possible use a vacuum cleaner with the motor unit outside to save blowing the dust around inside.

I recent did a couple of panels in my Fairline of similar vintage. I bought this stuff which is a match on the original. Good value and good quality stuff.

Amazon.co.uk

I choose to not use foam backed stuff. It came out really well. Stuck it down with evo stick 'sticks like s***', spread out as described above. And yes, hoover for the old foam.

I've repaired headlinings with contact adhesive but invariably they only last a few winters. It's not a nice job - old foam dust everywhere and you're usually upside down or looking up into it as it lands in your face. It can be done and as mentioned adding battens or a fixed feature - lamp - clock etc helps.

You should use a vinyl with a 4mm foam and scrim, the scrim stops glue penetrating the foam and leaving finger marks when gluing onto the boards. For glue you can use either a high temp spray adhesive like trimfix or a heavy contact adhesive like apollo a26. You can get these from a trade supplier like MBS fabrics or Kayospruce. If you all looking for someone to do it for you and i can give some names of trimmers in your area.
