I chose the 625x625x4.5mm. The supplier cut it in half across the diagonal to make two triangles, at no extra charge. I had thought 4.5mm might be a bit thin, but it seems plenty thick and strong enough in practice. No connection, just a satisfied customer. There is other aluminium plate on Ebay of course, but I couldn't find anyone else supplying this size, and chequer plate seems cheapest.
