Any suggestions where to source floor slats for a Zodiac 2.6 inflatable? I made a set out of 6mm marine ply and they all snapped first time I stood on them. They are 810 x 80 x 8 mm, six in total. Hardwood would be best I suppose. I thought about PVC but I think its too bendy. I would make them but none of our local builders merchants stock hardwood.

thanks

I replaced the heavy plywood floors on my Avon Rover with Ikea single bed slats. Just the right size without cutting.
I occasionally break one but they are easily replaced and a single pack will have plenty of replacements.
Made out of beech, I think.

I rang the original suppier and they sucked through teeth and quoted over £100 which is a bit much to spend on an elderly dinghy. £65 is more like it. I think I need 5 slats but can check if 4 would do. do you want to PM me?

cheers, Colin

Hi Colin,

you can get a set of six from Zodiac at a cost of £69.

I need 2 - so if you are after part of a set then I'm happy top split the cost with you

6mm sounds too thin. the ones in my Yamaha dinghy were 12mm, when a couple broke after about 10 years I just made some new ones out of 12mm marine ply.

Mine are nothing like that thick, perhaps nearer 8mm, but I haven't actually measured them.

On a similar thread elsewhere one poster suggested plastic soffit boards as a replacement option. I intend to see if I can blag some off-cuts to replace the two that have broken on mine over the past 8 or so years as I have put on weight. :nonchalance:

I went down this road some time ago, made some from ply that broke really quickly, looked in IKEA and all the bed slats didn't look like the right size. Just recently bit the bullet and bought 6 from Glaslyn Marine in Porthmadog. About £60 for the 6 IIRC. Saves a lot of messing about.

Realized I've had the dinghy for 6 years from secondhand and I'd never replaced them before
