I have obtained a Redstart inflatable. My Narwahl has given up the ghost but the
plywood slatted floor could be shortened across the beam to fit the Redstart.
Insructions with the Narwahl required that the floor edges should be a snug fit on the side seams of the floor and I assumed therefore that the seams were reinforced to take the load
If I cut the floor down and fitted it to the Redstart in a similar way - bearing on the side seams - would this be detrimental to the Avon?.

You should not have any problems, providing the floor does not move!

I have made a plywood floor (9mm thick) that covered virtually the whole of the area between the transom and inflatable thwart, and also incorporated a batten near the stern to use for a davit hoist. This has been in use for 15 years without any wear. The plywood floor was a snug fit and could only be inserted or removed with the dinghy fully deflated.
