I am moving my Princess 38 in stages from UK to Barcelona. At the moment it is berthed in Chalon sur Saone. On September 18th we leave Chalon and proceed south to Lyons and the Rhone. We plan to turn right into Petite Rhone and at St Gilles join the Canal du Rhone a Sete which will takes us to Sete. At Sete we enter the med and head for Barcelona.
The reports of floods in this area are alarming.
Does anyone have first hand knowledge of the current situation?
Does anyone have previous knowledge of this area to advise on what we are likely to meet?
We can avoid the Petite Rhone etc and enter at Port St Louis but is the Rhone likely to be in spate?.

Came down the Rhone 2 weeks ago, no flooding no problems. Flooding seems to occur mainly in the winter months. Have met people who have come down after us, also no problems. The current varied between none and 2 knots with us, some eddies after the locks. If you go into Avignon be careful, the current in that branch is faster and varies from hour to hour. The marina is in the full current.
