Hello Liveaboard forum. Sorry if I have posted this in the wrong area, having read through some of the threads on here I am sure someone will be more than happy to put me right! I have been trying to find a floating office. I have looked at H2Office and they are pretty funky but I am looking for other options. I was thinking about a structure on a pontoon or something similar. I thought someone might be aware of a company that makes a similar style houseboat that I could get in touch with. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks

You might be better looking at Dutch barges rather than a floating 'house on a pontoon'. At least a barge has multiple uses, and some of the sailing Tjalks can manage coastal passages in calm conditions. The blunt bow shape means you'll be going backwards in choppy conditions.

If you are looking for barges, Holland is the the ultimate place to go. There s nobody but nobody that builds barges like the Dutch.......

The larger the barge, the cheaper the price (over 20 mtrs). £50k will buy you a really nice Tjalk or similar.

Simon Rogers did a very neat proposal 11 years ago for a floating office for Waterspace PLC - details on his website at http://www.rogersyachtdesign.com/

Click on 'Past Projects' and then 'Waterspace'

A link is provided there for Waterspace PLC, but it does not seem to work......

On the other side of the pond, Eric Sponberg has produced some very neat designs for houseboats - but perhaps these are too much like a house, rather than an office?

Aluminium pontoon boats are very popular in the USA - usually used as open deck boats, but why not put a house on one?
