What does 'floating ground' mean when applied to switches? I need an engine oil pressure switch with 'isolated earth return'. Is the floating ground the same, or the opposite?

A two wire switch for an engine which does not use the cylinder block as a common negative return ??

Yes Vic that's what I'm after. Plenty of single connector ones around, but i cant find one for my 4.108. If you see one anywhere its 1/8th NPT.

Apologies if you've seen it already but Parts 4 Engines say, " On marine versions, Perkins would often isolate the engine block from the earth (-) supply and in these cases a twin spade oil pressure switch is needed. New ones are now hard to source, but we hope to have stock very soon."

Yes i've spoken to them Vic. They have no idea where to source them either. I've got someone looking in the USA for me too...

If you're really stuck, a relay would do the trick.

But if you use a erlay and single terminal sensor you are still stuck with the fact that one connection of the sensor is the body and the engine block, which is isolated.
