those on the cherbourg trip have already commented but for the benefit of those tucked up with the sunday papers, the coastguard was reporting a container floating in the casquets TSS lanes on sunday.
too much to hope that the b******s who dropped it would be the ones to hit it!
as we approached plymouth on sunday there was a lot of shouting on the vhf- a german warship was trying to conduct a live firing exercise and a trawler was sitting in his range, ignoring the vhf. for some time it sounded as though the germans had a helicopter hovering over the trawler and he was still ignoring them.
perhaps they should have made themselves useful and sunk the container instead, or maybe a couple of pair trawlers
