... I'm developing an idea for a sailing-themed drama film which would be set on the East Coast.

It will be quite light hearted and feel-good in nature but the intention is to be as accurate and realistic as far as the boats and sailing aspects are concerned.

Am in the process of raising finance with some production partners at the moment, but I just wondered - is anyone interested in this and would any of you be willing to help crowd-fund it?

Depending on contributions, benefit could be anything from a copy of the film on DVD, or blu-ray, to having a credit or even appearing in it :D

Is this an enthusiastic amateur or a professional job?

If you are looking for backers we will want to know more. For starters, should the backers see this as a bit of fun, or a commercial job with hoped for profit

Professional.

Commercial with a return - depending on the funding that could be raised it might be either micro-budget (up to £350k) or low-budget (<£2M). I have some interest from a couple of distributers internationally if we can pull it together.

Crowd-funding the early stage would be one way to get the script development done, secure the actors (we have potential access to some "well known names") establish the full production budget and possibly shoot a trailer. This would then be used to attract the main investment for the main film production.

I'm only testing the water, so to speak, I'd provide much more details by the time we get to the stage of setting up a crowd-funding page on one of the web sites.

opposed to anything that may paint the east coast rivers as anything but muddy ditches. could you make a public information film?

Solent posh boys! Danger! Keep Away! Mud and no water here... nothing to see...move along now...
