So, say one had signed up for a trip to the Canaries (island unknown) and wanted to at least check out the options, what is the forum's collected wisdom on the cheapest way to get back to Blighty?

I saw a few posts mentioning impressively low fares but can't seem to get below about a ton myself.

Aiming to return end of first week of August-ish.

From experience you will have to pay around £100,maybe more unless you really enjoy flying at 2am in the morning..You will simply be travelling home at the peak of the holiday season and with no Ryanair around..............

Surprisingly British Airways are pretty good for prices from the Canaries. Not yer acshull BA but operated by GBY. Your problem is high season and a one way trip. You may get a better price if you can book via a Canarian site.

From Tenerife you can nearly always get a rock bottom deal the day before or just by turning up at the airport. There are always empty seats going back if booked from that end.

A friend of ours joined us for the Madeira - Tenerife leg of our trip last year and got a next day flight back from Tenerife to Glasgow for 65 euros.
