Having flirted with the idea of moving to sail last Autumn, but having had very few interested buyers, we have decided to keep our boat but much further South than Torquay.... about 1000 miles south to be precise...

Flights and hotel booked to Barcelona for mid May when we will decide whether to firm up provisional truck bookings etc to a confirmed date.

if decision is made we could be in SCM for late July, and hopefully stop the never ending fight against mould on canopies....

Not a foregone conclusion by any means so if anyone has advice / experience (and thanks to those I have pm'd and also contributors to JTBs epic thread on heading south) I will be interested as its obviously a big step!

Hi Andy,

Cant believe you were thinking of selling. Guess you boat isn't 2 years old yet.

Good idea heading to Spain.

Alison and I have considered it but were having too much fun in the Solent at present.

Good luck with the trip.

Andy

Thanks. We came to our senses eventually Andy!

Realised holiday home and boat within 10 miles means neither got used to full potential. Thought a yacht would give us an "activity" but we realised we liked our creature comforts too much..

So keeping lodge as weekend escape for Linda and I and for the boys (especially as one may be on a 4 days on 4 days off work pattern in.quite a stressful job). Trips to boat will be an adventure and significantly cheaper paying for 2 of us rather than 5 and with increased probability of good weather... If we decide to make the move....

Guess you have proximity to cheap flights.

If it wasn't for the dogs and extortionate flights from Bristol I might consider it myself lol.

We are now the new owners of a 2006 Sealine F43 so UK weather is less of an issue for us but the thought of regular sunshine is quite appealing lol
