Just a simple question, anyone out there using on a regular basis a flexible black water holding tank? without the smell that is said will eventually cause it to be changed to a plastic non flexible tank.

I have a flexible holding tank and after about 10 years it started to smell.
Eventually I coated it with Coelan....now no smell.
The smell was the Butyl Rubber, not poo.Bit like the inside of old wellington boot.
Hope this helps,
Mad Pad

I have used a Vetus black tank for past 8yrs - no probs, no smell- BUT I did not use their recommended size of breather pipe. I have always been of the opinion any breather pipe for any tank, should be at least the size of the input pipe.

Think you would be asking for trouble as I used a flexible tank for my main water tank for almost 20 years and discovered that they would fail at the seams because of the constant filling and emptying (expanding and flattening) . Admittedly your tank might not fill and empty as frequently but if and when it did fail the results would be much worse.
