Evening all,

Just got back from a couple of days on board. Am fed up with the size of my tank - 40 litres this gives me a very limited range. I would like to fit a flexible feeder tank to it - or take it out entirely and install a larger flexible tank. As always space is a premium.

Any ideas ??

As ever many thanks for all replies.

Can't you fit a larger permanent tank? You can get plastic tanks nowadays from people like TrekTank, Plastimo & Vetus - probably other suppliers as well. TekTank can make a tank to suit your space available, but at a price of course! I would be dubious about a flexible tank filled with diesel - it would be disastrous if it sprang a leak!

Why not buy a series of 5, 10 and 20litre plastic jerry cans, shape and size to suit available storage.

To top up, do not mess about with funnels etc, buy some rubber fuel or gas hose, and put a squeezy fuel primer bulb in line. If you can secure the jerry can above your fuel tank, a few squeezes of the bulb will set up a syphon, without a spillage.

This will be cheaper than replacing your tank, and give far greater flexibility, allowing you to take advantage of cheaper fuel pontoons when you come across them, and no need to carry excessive weight when you do not need it

Google flexible fuel tanks and you will get a number of leads. However, generally not a good solution in a permanent installation. Vetus used to do them, but have discontinued. As suggested best bet is to consider having a custom tank made by Tek Tanks to maximize the use of available space.
