Anyone know where I can get a Filter housing to fit a Fleetguard FF5013 Filter . I want to make a two step fuel filter with FF5013 ( Head ?) as Primary and a FS19596 ( Head 3930885)
or a FS1218 (Head 142784S) as primary and a FS1000 ( Head 142784S) same number head housing or do they make a dual 142784S head ?
I have taken this info from Latestarter1 and Daka posts which make sense to me rather than using Racour 500 which is not meant for anything over 74HP and I have 2x Volvo Tamd 63ps

I fitted Rongsun / Headman versions of the Racor 900 to my TAMD60c's. although they are Chinese they are IMHO very good quality, and their filters are now fitted to the Aircon compressors of every Virgin Pendolino Train. Zero failures, zero problems. We also did a detailed factory analysis and testing of their filters compared with the originals, and these were completely satisfactory.

Available on EBay from a seller called Gale Force Marine (380339280415) for about £90. They also sell pattern elements but the Racor originals will fit.

There are three types of filter.

Cellulose paper which I think Racor still use.

Under a magnifying glass its just like a ball of wool which has big holes and little holes. It may be sold as a 30 micron filter which is the average size of the gaps that will stop 30 micron bits through most of it. will stop 30 micron bits in 70% of it and will allow 30 micron bits through 30% of it until it gets bunged up.

it will not stop water or emulsified water.

The filter housing design may catch free water but emulsified water is free to pass.
emulsified water is in all fuel either from
the fuel delivery pump
engine fuel pump
additives that now appear to be added before the fuel reaches the supplier.

treated cellulose paper

same problem with the hit and miss ball of wool holes.
is treated to catch water

Specialist modern filter papers

Stratapore as used in FS1000 .

If rated at 30 micron it has been tested to stop 99% @ 30 micron , will still stop 85% at 10 micron which is better than a 10 micron rated cellulose paper manages ! and will hold loads of crup before blocking, twice the filter weight of crup !

Forget cellulose paper filters, they belong in a museum .

I have 5x fleetguard FF105d that fit the FS1000 filter head but are cellulose paper, as a two stage prefilter system they are ideal and going cheap if anyone wants them £2.50 each + postage at cost.

Hi,
Your are probably sorted but our local Fleetguard dealer is "Mechanical Services" based in Weymouth - very knowledgable and helpful.

A happy customer - no other reason.

Regards
