Thinking about getting some flat fenders…

…like these to prevent scuffing from the movement of regular fenders in boisterous weather.

Anyone tried them? Do they work in that role?

We had a couple of them for a short time. They were effective but unfortunately the material is not very strong and in the inevitable tug of war when the rope is being pulled upwards while the boat is leaning on the fender, the fender lost. We redrilled new holes and tried different ropes and knots but fender life came nowhere near that of conventional ones.

Not trying to start yet another argument about fender socks but we have had them for 20 years now and our topsides are pretty much perfect. Good advice we were given when overwintering afloat at Bastia, a very windy location at times, was to run a warp through the bottom holes of fenders along the length of each side. It prevents them from being blown up on deck.

I have two large ones. Just use them for when expecting rafting yachts alongside and not sure of their size/ height

Yes, I've got a pair.

They keep in place either side of the boat which has a rubbing strake and prevent it ever catching on a pontoon (or another boat). The regular sausage shaped ones are either side of them but I sleep better at nights if it's a bit windy!
