Is there a market for it? How do the wild boar advertise for such things?

You will find most ferry/coach companies do not allow you to carry flares. Have you not asked them?

As for the starting pistol. What type is it as some have now been classed as a sec 1 firearm (quite serious as I think minimum mandatory sentence is 5 years but that depends on your age. Younger the better!) as they can be easily converted? They also have to be brightly coloured.

Surely you want to see the wild boar, not drive them off.

We had them in the garden this winter. When I went out onto the terrace they fled knocking down two garden gates in the process.

A who to the what now? This thread started badly and isn't going end well. What in the wide, wide world of sports are you going to use flares for in the pursuit of bacon on the hoof? If you're looking for illumination, out of date flares are pretty bad at it, they fire unreliably, burn for less than the advertised time and considerably less intensity. At this time of year there is a significant chance of setting alight to big areas of France which will encourage Les Flics to break your head with truncheons.

P&O will let you carry flares but you have to declare them when boarding. I have a email saying so.
