I have a FJORD SELCRUISER 27 with an aft cabin which i bought last year from Loch Lomond the boats name is
Magical MIrren but it was previously named NATALI i am trying to find out the age of the craft and maybe speak to previous owners, if anyone can shed some light please let me know.

Hull number may not be very useful. Most of the records at Arendal were lost in a fire in 1986.

Do the cowlings on the side say Fjord, Fjordcruiser, Selco or Selcruiser? Worth also trying the Register of Shipping in Cardiff to see if the boat has ever been Pt 1 or Pt 3 registered under that name.

Try also:

I have one on brokerage with much of the original documentation if a wiring diagram would be useful to you. PM for more.

Welcome caravellavarient5 (bleedin eck couldn't you have found a shorter user name)! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Probably late 70's, but you probably already know that much.
Twin pets or single diesel?
Stick a piccie on here someone will know the model and age.
There are some clued up peeps on here.
Don't ask Me how to stick a picture on.
There is a Tutorial though "Dog Watch" is the Man.
Anyway You might be up to speed with that kinda stuff.
Piccie won't help with the ownership gig but it might jog someones memory.
Sorry not that helpfull a reply.
Oh! where are You and where do You intend using Your boat?
It's all interesting stuff, plus We are nosy gits on ere! (well I am) but the more You tell us the more feedback You will have.
Anyway Welcome cara 5! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Andrew, wasn,t Fjord Selcruiser an actual model?
You know like Ford escort etc.
I seem to remember one moored by Me in about 1986.
Looked a bit more like a River type hull than some of the more Sea type semi displacement jobbies built.
Or are the brain cells becoming more addled with he advancement of age and the intake of fermented hops etc?

My Scandanavian languiages are pretty poor but AFAIK Fjord swallowed up Selco and sold the Selcruiser as the Fjord Selcruiser for a while before dropping the Selco element and just being Fjord. Valid to add that there were two 27' AC models, one has a faux clinker moulded hull and the other does not.

The one I hope not to have much longer is the one without faux clinker, but with flared bows and an SD hull.

It is to do with the make up. You can also tell builder, model and even spec.

The hull number for my Bavaria was

DE-BAVB33A81001

Breaking down the number gives you the detail.

DE - Country of manufacture, Germany

Bav - The builders unique code. These do not always make sense!

B33A8 - The builders model code

1001 - the date of certification, in this case October (10) 2001 (01)

Hull identification serial numbers should on all vessels built after 16th June 1998 appear in the international ISO format with fourteen characters. The prefix should be the country code followed by the MIC (Manufacturers code) – three letters. This is followed by the production model and serial number followed by the month of production and year of production or model year.

This is set out in this example:

GB –MPP1A01234F001

GB (country code) Great Britain – MPP (Manufacturers Code, name), 1A (Model)1234 (serial no.) F (month of build), 001 (year of manufacture).
