Fixed GPS unit

I currently use a Garmin handheld GPS to feed NMEA position to my laptop and VHF. To keep things tidy I was thinking of buying a cheap fixed unit and then connecting to the laptop via a plug & socket in the instrument panel. This would only need to give position, no colourful maps required etc. I have an external antenna available. Anybody know of anywhere doing amazing deals on a suitable unit?

Just bought a handheld VHF from these guys and it arrived within 48 hours and was the cheapest around. I believe that others have mentioned them as offering a good deal.

I use an old handheld as the fixed unit and source of GPS data to my laptop. It has an external aerial and 12v connection. I have added a telephone style connector so that the NMEA lead to the laptop can be removed when necessary.
