The rear rubber collar on our MD2030B has perished and now has a small split which resulted in us filling the engine bay with engine warmed sea water just inside the grand rade at Cherbourg - thankfully not mid channel!

Got a new collar on order that's taking it's time to get to the a Volvo dealer here but hopefully with us tomorrow.

If anyone has some tips on how best to fit this it would be appreciated. It seems fitting the rear first is best as you also have to get the collar onto the engine fitting below while the front just has a loose hose. Is it acceptable to immerse the collar in warm water first to ease fitting?

Many thanks

You will have to make sure the tube(intercooler) is exactly equidistant in the heat exchanger housing. Approx 13mm should be sticking out both ends. Also make sure the tube has the small hole at the top to let the fresh water circulate around the thin tubes inside. Probably a little washing up liquid to ease the new rubber end cap on. Also best check the front rubber cap if it is of the same vintage and replace as necessary. Hope this helps

Thanks Allergy. Other one is fine but will be getting one as a spare as we've now been in Cherbourg 2 nights longer than planned waiting for the part to arrive. Fingers firmly crossed for tomorrow!
