Fitting vents in perspex hatches

I inherited a couple of vents which I now want to install in the hatches of the heads and the forward cabin. I guess it is a (relatively) simple matter of drilling a pilot hole and then sawing to cut out the holes. But before I take drill to perspex I would be grateful if a forumite who has done the job would assure me that I am not about to ruin my hatches. In addition, the vents I have are unpackaged and, if they came with gaskets, these have long since disappeared. Advice on how to seat the vents in place would be appreciated.
Thanks

Are these the typical circular vents with a lift up plug to prevent water ingress? If so, I've put a couple of those into perspex hatches by using an expandble hole cutter in a recharchable drill without difficulty. Even the heavy duty perspex in a hatch cuts fine.
Good luck

remember to put plenty of tape over the perspex before introducing a cutter, it will help to key the initial pilot hole, and reduce any possibility of scratches.

I would bed it on something like sikaflex. I would again spread tape on the perspex. place vent in position and trim tape so that it does not cover where the vent goes. This way, once you have placed the vent in position, and applied sikaflex, it will allow you to remove tape and have a clean perspex.

How are you intending fixing the vents? If you intend using screws I'd recommend using machine screws and tapping the holes in the perspex rather than using self tappers or similar. This helps to avoid the possibility of splitting the perspex near the hole.
