Sorry everyone, but the venue for dinner on 14th HAS changed after all.

I appear to have upset Gail at the Shipwreck (obviously not my intention) but we had a few crossed wires and the result is that we are now booked in at the Bristol Arms.

(In brief - Gail thought I was going to confirm the booking by a certain date, I thought I had, and thought that I was just waiting to confirm final numbers nearer the time, she thought I hadn't. Then she thought we wanted a fixed menu - which we didn't, but I couldn't get a word in edgeways  how unlike me  and then she sent menus which me and Roger thought were a bit naff and too expensive, yadda yadda yadda going round in circles until she got cross with me:o sorry Gail!)

The Bristol Arms will let us choose anything we like from the menu - with no restriction - but they would like a pre-order. I will post a separte thread with the menu on. Please make sure you send me your orders by 29th March.

There's something for everyone on the Bristol Arms menu - from cheapo kids meals and jacket spuds and sarnies through to more gourmet dishes. Your choice!

Personally, i wouldn't have thought the Shipwreck was any loss. We ate there a couple of times and thought the food was poor and prices were high. We ate at the Bristol arms many times and always enjoyed their food.

Such a shame Shotley waste their resources.

Speaking as I find - we've always found the Shipwreck staff to be friendly and helpful - the girls there were often a right laugh. We also learned that they do their pub grub really well and sometimes fall down with the more adventurous dishes. Eat the fish and chips or the sausage egg and chips after a good sail washed down with Adnams and you won't be disappointed.

The Bristol arms is excellent however and is a better choice for a more demanding palate!
