Fitting shower pump to 2003 bavaria 38

Yes i know my boats a pile of tom tit , no need to tell me , but has anyone fitted a shower pump , to drain from sump ,

On initial-inspection i can see no way of getting to underneath of sump , must be a way .

By sump do you mean the heads floor?

This is a shot of the shower pump and filter under my sink.

If I was kneeling in front of the open door, just behind me is the shower drain in a recess.

You can see the filter on the left of the photo, just behind the tissue stuck in the white pipe.

The pipe from the shower drain, to the filter, runs under the floor and there is enough space to put your hand in under the floor.

I'm confused what your problem is ... ok mine's a 34 but I would have thought the principal would be the same.

(you're probably not wondering what the white pipe is for :) ... it is to suck fresh water from the sink into the heads to stop that horrible bad-eggs smell)
 
You would think so but you cannot get your hand under the floor on a 38 , first place i looked , yup sump as in lowest part of heads floor , moulded in seemingly for the very purpose of extracting shower water

OK, but surely there must be space enough for a pipe?

Can't you:

1. Drill the necessary drain hole in the sump
2. Feed the hose and inside fitting in from the cupboard
3. Wiggle it around 'a bit' until it lies under the hole you've drilled ... if necessary lassoo it to pull it up until you can get the screw into it.
4. Fit the outside fitting to the inside fitting, then get working on pumps and 'stuff' :)
 
This is the sort of fitting I'm talking about.

Tie a piece of string to it with a loop in it that you can catch, fit the outlet pipe to it, push it under the floor, catch the string, pull it up through the hole you've cut in the floor, locate the screw, drop or slip the string, tighten the screw.
 
There is no access atall from the locker to the underside , it is watertight , trust me :) , hence my model specific request , thanks though for your input and raising issue of smelly bogs inadvertently

On a 2000 37 2 cabin there is a little access inside the wet locker - just remove the board floor and you can sort of get underneath.
 
I have a 40 not a 38 but if I remember in the heads there is a white plastic seat , below the locker where the fresh water pump is. The seat unscrews and reveals I think a large hole directly to the bilges. This should enable closer access to the sump area. You'll need to drill a hole in the sump for the drain pipe in the sump and lead it to the under seat void and then on to the locker shown in the picture above. If your model is completely different in terms of head design, ignore this rubbish!

What about going in from under the fridge, or the saloon floor.
On my 38 of the same year the shower drain is in the corner right by the heads door and the pump is just below the holding tank.
 
Seems the 2003 38 is different to both the 34 and 40 above , you are both talking about accessing through same area , and most defiately you cannot in my 38 bottom of this locker is moulded to the underneath of the heads floor :( , hopefully someone out there withthe same boat will see this and let me know what they have done or is fitted.

Under fridge was my thought ,but haven't opened up to look yet ,as not a lot of roominthere as i i recollect , have removed a couple of floorboards but there is a rather large floor frame in the way , which i don't fancy drilling through nor would with out say so from builder / designer ,as structural . I haven't removed the long floorboard yet which runs down in front of galley and under central seat , but , i imagine same problem with frames .

Slight hope maybe access through hatch under sink ,
 
Bav 34 , just realised ( through chat with clipper ) that your pic is under the sink , what threw me was straight ahead on the 38 when you open the door is wet locker / holding tank cupboard (as referred by b40 owner above ,) this is where i looked , im assured like you say on a 34 there is access from under sink , fingers crossed , fair distance for hose wiggling , but i thought if i drilled out sump for plug ole and introduced hose. From there could pick up easy enough at sink end , talking of oles , where could i source the fine example you displayed above , many thanks
 
On our 38, go in through the under sink door and you'll find that the moulding of the floor of the head leaves a gap of a few inches between the hull and the moulding, sufficent to fit a drain as suggested above. Same for both forward and aft heads if you have the 3 cabin version. How come it didn't come with a shower pump fitted? Thought that was standard fit out?
 
Must admit I was surprised at the lack of access ... why would Bavaria go to the trouble of moulding in a sump and then make it inaccessible? :)

It appears to be called a Right Angled Sink Waste (I didn't know that :) ) and the sort of thing that you are looking for can be found here:

or Clipper or I'm guessing, under your galley sink.

Might be worth a look there first for an example.

When Mrs Bav blocked our sink she very gamely unblocked it ... I was on a VERY exciting page of my book. From memory, what I saw from the corner of my eye was that she undid the screw in the centre of the waste and pulled the inner part away from under the sink.

This is why I was talking about bits of string ... my drain is a long way from the sink so if yours is the same you will have to fit the waste to a pipe first, push it under the floor and then catch it to screw the outer to it.
