I don't fully understnad the question (not sure waht "second step" means) but if you are talking about a normal pair of davits on the transom then they wont work very well with a RIB on a platform cradle. The davits have no in-out movement, so if the davits nicely lower the RIB onto the platform it'll need quite a push to get it to drop in the sea, and quite a steadying hand when you raise it from the sea and it lurches towards the transom. Better to fit a hydraulic crane or passerelle with an in-out movement

Welcome to the forum.

I am also unsure of what you are asking?

The extending arms on davits are usually just slid out bits that help to hold the tender stable when in the raised position, they are not used to extend the reach of the davits.

As JFM has already said, you need to get a crane or passerelle....

I have got an F43 so please post more info if you need any more help

As above. Sealine do a set of fold out dinghy chocks that fit in the wet locker on 'step 1' that will support the dighy OK, but as jfm says, conventional davits only go up and down. You'd struggle like hell to push the tender far enough outboard to clear the chocks/bathing platform given its weight. The answer is either a crane or a passarelle, I'm afraid.

jfm, the 'second step' is just that: the F43 has a step running across the full width of the transom one step up from the bathing platform, with a locker in the middle of it.

Someone will correct this, I'm sure, but to my mind conventional davits are only going to work where the tender can be lowered staright to the water (i.e. a flat transom and no swim platform) or where it's a very light slatted floor or airdeck tender that can be manhandled over the edge of the bathing platform. If you have a bathing platform and a RIB, you need a crane or passarelle.

Just thought of another option - cheaper than a new crane etc:

The tender cradle on mine is removable (two bolts in each arm), you could raise the tender on the davits, remove the cradle then lower away.....

Reverse order for retrieval perhaps.

A pain, I know, but.....

thank you all for your reply,s and advice, sorry about confusion of my post (had just got back from boat with head full of idea,s). original set up was davits fitted to lower platform with avon rib@ 10hp outboard, with this arrangement rib is not very high off water, and as missing extending davit arms,my thinking was to move davits back and up to second step, so as to lower rib onto a cradle to secure, but as JFM and wiggo have kindly pointed out this will cause problems launching ect.allso as we stern moor hoping to keep boat as short as possible(still leaning),thanks again, great forum.(our boat was featured in mag-test run by david marsh around 1997/98) unable to post photos.
