Fitting outboard fuel connector to hose

OK, silly problem, anyone got any great tips for ramming/persuading/pushing a new fuel connector onto the rubber fuel hose? Trying to get the ribbed connector down onto the newly cut hose after cutting off old leaky connector. Working on boat not in workshop!

You could try heating the hose? If you don't have a hair dryer, try hot water.

Hot water and some washing up liquid should help.

Ta! Yes, I think I'll try the hair dryer if I can get power line rigged. Had thought of soapy water, but I was trying to avoid putting fairy liquid in me fuel! I had also thought of Vaseline, but not sure that's a good idea. Sufferin' seagulls!

+1 for boiling water. Give the hose a good shake then before attaching connector and all should be well.
