The new Ally' framed windows for Wraith are arriving today. I assumed Sikaflex would make a good sealent/bedding compound but then wondered whether U.V exposure might cause the stuff to break down, any thoughts or experience out there? Regards, Mike.

Sikaflex and silicone are commonly used and should be OK, but can make later removal difficult. I was recommended to use polysulphide sealant, obtainable from a builders' merchant, for mine. After 3 seasons it seems to be doing the job.

Hi Mickshep.

Have a look at the Eagle Boat Windows web site. They have a free guide as to how to bed down windows of all shapes and sizes. The trick is to use a flexible sealant that never quite goes off, so it moves with the boat and prevents leaks. It also helps if you have to take the windows out again in the future.
