fitting main sail slides

I want to fit luff slides onto an old main sail does, any one know the details of positioning luff slides on the main sail of a Sigma 33. the luff length is almost 12m and fitted with 3 reefs.

I had one main converted earlier this year, a sail maker did it. He positioned the slides so you can still hook on the reefing points. Probably more challenging than it sounds to keep them even and positioned just right.

Make sure you get the right type of slides for your mast. Also the correct attaching shackles to stop them jamming. My mistake was with the mast gate the first slides where to deep to get passed, not to expensive a mistake but still a pain..

Mainsail slides

As said the reef positions will dictate location of slides. There is much to be said for not having slides in at least the first reef area of luff which means you can reef without concern over slides.
further up the sail the slide spacing is going to dictate the size of the folds when flaking (faking) the sail so not too close. good luck olewill
