Fitting furler foil extrusions

I am installing a new furler and the required length of the foil extrusions is 12.216 metres. The extrusion lengths are 2 metres each. What does the panel think of fitting a short piece (0.216) at the top of the stay, or would it be better to cut two extrusions 1.108 metres each? If the latter, it means drilling and tapping 4 new holes for the joint but would make sure the upper swivel didn't come anywhere near a join.

You could always put the short bit at the bottom. Maybe.

The top of the top section is prone to getting nurgled up, due to various factors. So a short section may well be an advantage
