Planning to fit bottom drain plugs to my two 53 litre Diesel plastic Tec Tanks any advice or experiance welcome.
What sort and size of valve did you fit!
Mike
Why risk leaks by fitting a drain connection when you could lift off the inspection plate and pump out the contents when neccessary? the the red Tek tank material is hard to effect a good seal on.
You could ask in a plumbers merchants for a 1/2" tank connector, and fit a neoprene washer inside and outside.
The tank connectors can take compression fitting on the outer end to which you can fit a short length of 15mm copper or polyplumb pipe with a 15mm balafix (service) valve at the end of pipe or anywhere along its length.
When fitted the inspection flange which is ontop of the tanks are impossible to get at hence why my question of fitting a drain.
I was thinking of a GRP skin fitting with a small valve sealed with Sikaflex before tightening up the nuts either side of the tank wall.
Fittings on a Tek Tank are all mounted on a welded on plinth. Would not think that just cutting a hole and putting in a skin fitting would be a good idea. Drains also usually have a sump rather than flush with the wall. Definitely seek advice from the makers
