fitting cp180 to binnacle

I am trying to find a way of mounting a standard horizon cp180 chart plotter to a binnacle rail. It comes with an attachment that allows you to screw it to the boat but not attach it to a rail I dont want to use a pod . I'm sure there are companies that make these type of attachments, I just cant seem to find one on the net. Cheers

Hi, i used, 2 small stainless u bolts, push up through the bottom of base plate, easy.

Commonly used to mout GPS on motorbikes so they should withstand the less violent movement of a boat.

I fitted my CP180i to a suction mount that can then be 'stuck' to any flat(ish) GRP surface. Works great just below the compass on the bulkhead when underway and then it can be quickly stored down below when moored up. The suction mount I used was a 'Suction Mount 2' from these guys...

You just need to drill a hole in the middle of the black plastic base on the chartplotter stand. The thread on the end of the suction mount is a 5/8" peculiar to the music/film industry.. however, Maplin do one here (it's the one on the right in the picture)...

The spec for the suction mount states that it should be good for 3Kg, the CP180i is (from memory) about 1Kg. I've been out in F5 and lumpy seas and the chartplotter hasn't budged. The other good thing about that mount is that you can adjust it to almost any angle/position. If I knew how to post a picture of the setup here I would but if anyone wants more info then just PM me.
