fitting acyrlic hatches

Just about to replace my Moonlight boat hatches with new acrylic into their aluminum frames.On cleaning the frames I noticed that they were fitted with a soft flexible bedding compound however the edges of the frames were akin more like Sika-flex 291, harder and more rubber like.
I plan to bed the new acrylic with Sika 295 but border the 3-5mm edges with Sika291 as I am concerned that if I used the 295 here it would be exposed to hands/feet and would not harden suitably.Anyone else approached this differently?

I was advised by my acrylic supplier to use silicone sealant (into ali frame)

I used some clear marine grade silicone sealant and am very happy with the result - still looks like new after 4 years use.
