Can anyone suggest solutions to fitting a flat based cheek block to an aluminium boom with a round section. The diameter of the boom is 10cm (4 inches), the base of the block is 5.4cm x 9.2cm.
You could make up a flat plate with the block on it with holes fore and aft and close together to attach to the proud area of the boom.
You could try long reach rivets although my preference is a tapped thread and 4mm or 6mm ss screws. (use duralac on thread.) You then pack the hole out with washers or similar to get a flat surface to mount.
Presummably this is for slab reefing anf you might consider fitting a section of SS track and a sliding car with block mounted on a flat plate on the slider. So making it adjustable for correct outhaul reef position.
Incidentally consider the shape of the block proud of the boom surface if and when it hits someones skull. A flat boom side is relatively harmness compared to a block, So far better if you can fit the block nearer the top of the boom. Perhaps a diferent type of block that mounts on edge. good luck olewill
