Well I have finally done it! Soon to be the proud new owner of one of these "marmite" boats. Couldn't resist it. Now 77, crew (a bit younger) and I moved from a Prout Cat to an Aquastar 33 thinking motoring was now appropriate for us and we could do the French canals, but got bored with thundering about at 14+ knots and not pleased with the cost. Wanting to sail again (if rather sedately) we looked at motorsailers and came across this one that has been lovingly looked after and is in extraordinary condition. Deposit paid and survey underway we are not expecting too many surprises and looking forward to getting her afloat.
In the mean time I am having trouble getting much about these boats on t'internet. Lots about the 30, 34, 37 etc but I was surprised to find that the Northeaster is not a 30 hull with different lid on as I thought. It's clearly beamier and I think possibly a bit longer too..... Looking at several that have been for sale the length and beam are described at anything between 30 and 32 ft and 9ft 6 to 10ft 3 respectively. She is definitely more than 9ft 6 beam. I think about 10 ft and I think the OAL is probably about 30ft 6. The "Colin Archer" type stern which is longer than the measurement over deck is probably responsible for some of the confusion about OAL but if anyone knows anything more I would be delighted to hear from you. At the moment I have very little and not much info published..... I am sure the folorum will provide........
