Fisher Motor Sailors made in Ceylon

Doubt you will find anybody who has bought one.

The builder is Neil Marine who have in the past built other Freeman & Wyatt boats such as the Yarmouth 23 and Cromarty 36 which sold for a while in the UK.

Neil Marine have acquired the moulds for the 25, 34 and 37 from Northshore and are building a 25.

Guess this is another attempt at reviving obsolete boats, perhaps hoping that the cheap labour and woodworking skills available in Sri Lanka will enable them to sell at a reasonable price. however from memory the other boats failed to make a big impression, perhaps because they were still too expensive.

If you check their web site, they also mention Ceylon!!!
I have since had a reply to my enquiry with a price of £112K inc vat shipping & commissioning for the basic sloop rigged boat. I am now waiting for a price & availability with mine & their options.
IMO the fact they are built in Sri Lanka is no detriment to their quality potential, after all Leopard catamarans are built in South Africa!!!

:D I can remember it being called Ceylon; my girlfriend and I used to have lunch at the Ceylon Tea Centre in Leeds many decades ago.

Well they have changed so many names since I was a kid. I remember when Iceland used to be called Bejams.

I used to sell Ceylon tea at Harrods. Right through to the late 'nineties. If we'd called it 'Sri Lankan' I think we'd have been escorted out.

I'd be glad if someone would start building the Fisher 25 again...especially with the redrawn interior - no more tiny aircraft-style toilet.
