After a fair amount of work, generator proved reliable on starting - until-
It wouldn't.
Buried in the bowels of the steering flat and pretty heavy, investigation is hard work.
The cause of failure proved simple - the solenoid fuel valve had fallen off.
(As the fuel circulates back to the tank freely, there was a fair amount of spillage).
Replaced and starting seemed to be back to normal.
Then, the starter motor turned over the engine very ponderously.
Fearing water in the cylinder, I repeated the extraction process again.
Fairly easy to dismantle, there was indeed a drop of water in the cylinder.
The two O rings connecting the circulation between head and cylinder were knackered and replacements ordered. I wondered about replacing the head gasket which is a simple copper ring although it appears ok.
Very difficult to find but, an email to Fischer Panda was very promptly answered.
£91 please!
Similar gaskets are around £5.
Until I sold my engineering business, I could have made one.
It wouldn't.
