Just got back from the coast after very enjoyable weekend on the boat.We set off on sat am to get the project sorted as had only been motored to the mooring the weekend before,so thhhere was lot,s to do.
screwed down some of the cabin floor as was left in case of problem,s fitted fish finder head and set transducer, put the bedding in the cabin, and remade the joint on the bypass stabbing on the cooling water intake, made up pickup bouy and atached to main mooring line, went round engine to check tightness of everyhing, sat back and waited for Sue who arrived back with hard brush, mop and dustpan for cleanig up as we are on a drying soft sand mooring, sat back and waited for the tide with a nice cuppa.
The tide stated to run and boy did it ,it comes in at a fair lick at Wells but it was a 8.8 meter tide so we were afloat 10 mins after the water first reached us.Put the leg down as soon as possible and started the engine to warm up,was ticking over nicly for 10mins but then reved up slightly then stopped!! ,traced prob to air in system so pumped some fuel round with priming pump restartd all ok.Sent sue forward and we slipped the mooring ,had a nice trip around the harbour checking everything ok,back to the mooring and shutdown, time is 9pm so it,s off down the town for chips and beer, returned to the boat and spent a reasonably comfortable night on board(our first).
Sunday were woken at 5am by the tide rushing past the hull but slept on for an hour and a half before rising quick cuppa and it,s time to slip the mooring and yake her to sea, motored out of harbour out to the safe water mark(about a mile)when the engine sound changes and it,s sounds like we,ve blown the exhast off!,shut down staight away ,turns out we had sucked a large wadge of seaweed into the intake and this had lead to the increase in exhast noise, motored back without further problems.
Weather been super....next time i,ll remember my fishing tackle....doh!!
