Just thought I would mention a couple of things that I've spotted in this month's MBY after my first quick scan of the mag.
1. Have you seen the fFline advert re attention to detail that talks about the meticulous way in which they stand the engines for an undisclosed period of time so that the engine mounts settle before they are fitted to avoid the need to ajust them afterwards.
Couple of things spring to mind here. Why do they need to let them settle, if the engine mounts are any good they shouldn't compress significantly when under just the dead weight of the engine. What will happen when they are under load and really putting the engines mounts under strain. Secondly then engines in the 40 are probably in accessible so they have to do this otherwise can't get at the bloody things. It also occours to me that the real reason that Fline have enignes standing around is that Volvo have probably stuffed their channel for their year end and consquently Fline have bought a cheap lot of engines that are standing around at the factory and are highly visible to visiting punters so some smart arsed marketeer has put a spin on it. Finally if Fline were that Obsessive they wouldn't use Volvos now would they.
2. Have you seen the sealine S42 advert announcing it has surface drives. Well if you look at the photo you'll notice there aren't any surface drives only outdrives. Secondly you'll notice that the radar arch is either a CAD edit or has been airbrushed in so my guess is they ain't built one yet!!!
3. I notice that FLine and Princess make some pretty skinny profits on their respective turnovers. We all complain about the price of boats on here but in my industry those sorts of profits on that sort of turnover would result in some challenging questions of the management. Why when the rrp of these boats is so high aren't these companies making more reasonable profits.
4. I think it was JFM that said that Princesses look too rivery, well take a look at the back cover advert of the V50 and tell me that that boat ain't gorgeous or its too rivery.
More later..perhaps
I just can't be arsed...
