Is there any requirement to renew your first aid certificate for Yachtmaster. I know you must have one to be signed off, but how often do people renew? I did one a little while ago, so much changed within a few years.

No requirement for Yachtmaster, but there is for commercial endorsement (or for instructors).

But techniques and procedures relating to First Aid change as good practice is influenced by a wide range of factors including, legal, technological and health related.
You can attend what is known as a First Aid refresher course for First Aiders that are already qualifed. The 1 to 2 day course will focus on changes and new skills.
Also, being qualifed does not mean you are still competent. Unlike some learnt skills, First Aid is not used very often. So re-confirming what you have been taught in the past is a "healthy" way to ensure when the occasion arises you do not have to think twice, or three times, about what to do in a particular emergency. It could mean the difference between life and death.

Yep SWMBO had to renew hers (for small children) every 3 years
