first aid kit for cruising?

Does any one have any advice about what to have in a first aid kit for long trips? I have read various articles about first aid kits but they are just making our list longer, i'm unsure whether half of it is actually really needed. Does anyone have any advice or tips through experience they could share? Thanks

Yes, you can see lists of suggested contents as well as lists of commercial kits available for yachts on the website Onpassage.com

Try a google on "yacht medical kit" - throws up a number of prepared kits, contents lists should start you thinking.

I've used the list in the back of Geoff Pack's "Blue Water Countdown", very good but UK GP's are increasingly reluctant to prescribe stronger items.

Put in lots of insect bite cream and anti-histamine.
