Well the time has come to sell my boat, so last weekend was to be the last trip out. Sods Law struck again and the weather was not good enough (Well for us anyway!) - so that was a bit disappointing.

However the fireworks from the Regatta at the Jolly Sailor at Burselden/Swanwick were like a grand finale, right overhead as we sat on our Swanwick berth.

I am not a chatty person so I am sorry I have not contributed to the forum much on that front, but I am in debt to the many fine people on here for their help and advice. I have tried to offer advice whenever I though it appropriate.

I hope to get another boat sometime and hopefully not too long, but for now business needs are greater.

I'll not stop looking in here daily and will offer help if I think I can, but will miss that vital element "a boat!"

Before I become boatless I would like to thank Col of the forum for the work he has done on my boat over the years, I cannot thank him or recommend him highly enough, he and Mrs Col are very special. Also thanks to Whitelighter, who was one of the first to offer advice when I joined the forum in 2005 and to Chris_d who also has a Spirit 3000. We have been able to share and discuss many interesting features of our boats

I have enjoyed the entertaining posts of Daka, Powerskipper and Lakey, the forum meets with Hurricane, Jimmy the builder, RogerRat and the gang and many more - too many to mention.

So thank you all for 7 great forum years.

Aww that's so nice and nearly brought a slight tear to my eye. Sure you'll be back on the water sooner than you think.

Will do,

In fact what if she doesnt sell..!

Got her in the used show at Swanwick, being lifted Tomorrow. But now the personal stuff is off, well you know what it's like.

Anyway thanks for all your support over the years - especially sending me ( a stranger back then) your mobile number so you could advise me on my first trip, which was over to Bembridge from Chi. And introducing me to Col who kept us going.

Thanks Lisa, I do hope and intend to get back on the water, just hope that time out doesn't dimish the desire.

By the way just saw your post on Swanwick, I have been there for 6 months and its been fine. Only tip is ask for a berth on the south side of a finger. We are on the land side of our finger and the wind always seems to be blowing up the river. Because we were near the bottom of the fairway we couldnt go past and approach towards the finger and turning in coming down the fairway always blew us off

Hi D

Sorry to read this, but best wishes for the future, and hope to bump into you again at some point in due course. Good luck with your sale.

Cheers
Jimmy

Thanks Mike and Mary,

I was at Swanwick today removing some final personal possessions. Its an odd feeling, I still own her and she may take ages to sell, but you make that decision to sell and its done. (mentally)

Boats are not like cars, you think you own the boat but it sort of owns a bit of you too!

So then I looked in the Princess window before leaving and my mind went off on its own for a minute. Reality hit and it was back to the car. If we can sell and use the money wisely then we will be back looking in their window. ;)

Regards

D

Hi Derwent,

We have also been very close to making the same decision, even had a couple of trial weekends at home to see what we would do without a boat.
Seen as you have made your decision I wish you a speedy sale coupled with a speedy return should you so desire . :)

I'm also very quiet and dont often have a lot to say, but what matters is the contributions are valued by someone :D

cheers
Pete

Hi Pete,

Thanks for your reply.

Please keep being quite - we wouldn't have it any other way :D

Once the boat is gone I will have more time to post too!

Please give Rupert my regards if you see him.

Cheers
