Anyone in here with experience ?? or what do you have onboard ??

Installation ease?

CO2, FM-200 etc.

Planning to install a supression system to cover approx 37 m3 for Engine room, generator and tankage... Need a 22Kg CO2 to cover the area and are waiting for prices etc., for a self installation kit.

Just fitted Firepro to 12m3 engine room. Very easy. Its an aerosol system. THe advantages were its an inert substance so not dangerous gases for transporting, it only has a small canister in size and weight compared to similar FM200 systems and couldn't be easier to fit. Put brackets in engine room, add canister which in my case is the size of two soup tins combined, arrange heat sensor tail and screw to fit around engine room (over batteries, generator, and diesel heater), and that's it.
It will shortly be possible to add an overide/engine switch off system too, but in its current guise is pretty much fit and forget and you have automatic protection.
It can leave a very fine residue to wipe up if it goes off, but I felt other advantages outwieghed that!
