Just read a horrific article in this months MotorCaravan Mag,
A Camper sleeping in a Caravan woke up feeling heat around his feet, and dicovered his battery was on fire. A fault in the Caravan wiring caused the fire that completely destroyed three caravans and awnings, badly damaged two others, and caused repairable damage to two motorcaravans and a car.
ALL IN THE SPACE OF 10 MINS. The Camper's quick reaction to the fire - evacuating his family and warning occupants of other caravans - ensured no one was injured.
This incident happened in Spain in February this year, continental campsite pitches are a lot closer together than here in the U.K. Brit club sites have a "20 ft. rule"which is self explanatory regarding distance between vans.
As boats are made of the same materials as caravans, carry bottled gas, fuel in tanks etc. etc. it makes one wonder what the safety rules are in our Marinas, how often do we see motor boats moored stern on to the dock and fender to fender............food for thought guys. Dave
