I hope no one on here is affected.

"The fire in the craft of 19 meters is now under control at Port Vauban in Antibes. Since Thursday 12 am 40, there is more visible flames in front of the boat named "Pride of Stavanger." However, the forty firefighters, including men in the intervention group and research, are still mobilized to contain any possible recovery may come from structural foam lining. Divers are also hard at work to seal the suction inlets of water that could sink the yacht. According to preliminary results of the investigation by the police in Antibes, this fire was of accidental origin . The fire boat belonging to a Norwegian started at the machine engine cooling."

I'm probably going to get this wildly inaccurate but I think she's somewhere along the ramparts in the old port ?

Whatever ... someone's Pride & Joy.

Correction - Having seen Video -- definitely old port and ramparts quay.

I know that boat. walked past it on saturday and we were both berthed side by side in Cuidadella in Menorca last summer and I chatted to the crew - it was on charter iirc. It's a late model Princess 67 with blue hull. It isn't permanently based in Antibes

It was last weekend berthed along the wall/ramparts in the old port of Antibes, so it is well away from the "mole sud" and "quai 1" crowd on this forum

Very sad - hope no-one hurt

At our home marina, someone decided to have a kettle type charcoal BBQ. This was on the rear cockpit , after finishing the BBQ , they closed the lid and left the boat, assuming it would damp down.
The temperature increased to the point where the bottom fell out of the BBQ, the boat went up . The next morning , the only bit left was the hull below the water line. Only the brave actions of a neighbouring berth holder saved the surrounding boats , although two were badly scorched.
One reason why I don't have gas on our boats (or live BBQs for that matter :D )
I slept through it all though!

That looks like somewhere around berth #40 or so, on the ramparts. We were berthed just along from there in #16 on Saturday night. What a great shame. Hope all ok.

Cheers
Jimmy

Dont know if you realised the significance of this particular tragety - it's the same model as JW - remember, the boat that took you down the coast for that lunch trip a couple of weeks ago!!

This boat is part owned by the guy I am embarrassed to admit I used to work for and is the subject of Norways biggest bankruptcy case with dozens of companies going down and hundreds having lost their livlihood, (I got out 2 mths before they closed him down) while he still is living like Jack the Lad, there are a lot of p*ssed off boat owners in Norway who have found that his company didn't transfer title of the boat over to them and the auditors have been reclaiming boats that are already paid for in full or you have to pay for them again.
Its a wonder the guy is still breathing and I know he's had a few beatings for flashing his cash in bars.
I would not be at all suprised if this fire turns out to be an insurance scam as he is in the news for taking £500,000 out of the charter company which owned the boat without permission.
The fraud squad are still investigating him and everyone hopes he gets sent down as he's lived a life of luxury on other peoples money. He went bust owing £36,000,000 so the bank repo'd his £2.6m house and his £1.7m apartment in Stavanger and they took his toys away, but he still has a house in Florida and cars and bikes over there. He robbed Peter to pay Paul and eventually overstretched hinself and the whole group collapsed like a pack of cards.
But then again sh*t always seems to float to the top!

Hate to winge but...

Whilst the alleged owner might be dodgy, it's always best not to accuse people on forums like this.
The owner is in fact an offshore company, with nominee directors!!
Insinuating that something you obviously know little about is an insurance scam seems highly foolish!!!
As a person who knows the exact reason for the fire, all I will say is I'm very glad two of my best friends (the crew!) are alive and safe today!

Yup, see your point!
I can see it from where I'm standing. Could post some more pics in a while, though they wouldn't add much to the story. The bow is ok though - could be made into a fishing boat conversion :-)

A 67 foot kayak would be easier:D
